How can we change MAC address?

All of us are know that MAC address is stored on NIC's ROM and that's mean we can't change it. But in the real, we can "change MAC address", why and how? We must remember this important note: ROM can't run without a RAM, it's mean when my computer is booted, RAM will load all things from ROM and we just change the specific address on RAM where contains MAC address.
